
A HO/RT1 is a form issued by a police officer requiring a motorist to produce their driving documents. There are a number of documents that a police officer can ask the driver of a motor vehicle to produce. These documents include:

If the driver cannot produce the appropriate documents when the police officer requests them, they will be issued with form HO/RT1 which will require that the documents in question be produced with the form at a police station chosen by the driver within seven clear days from midnight on the day of the request to produce the documents at the nominated station. Although a driving licence must be produced in person certificates of insurance and the MOT test certificates are allowed to be produced by any person.
